I’ll take it off for you

Expose? Sure, why not.
First, I’ll take off my pride.
It’s very dear to me, you know.
Because it’s you, and you want me to strip.
I’ll take it off for you.

Then, I’ll tell you my lies and secrets.
Maybe you can figure out why I need them.
But if you can’t, that’s okay.
If you ask me to shed them, then I will.
Because it’s you, and you want me to strip,
I’ll take it off for you.

Third, I’ll tell you my stories.
The good, the joyful, the blissful.
You’ll find they all have you,
And me telling them to you is me crying for you.
I’ll leave those tears, if you ask me to.
Because it’s you, and you want me to strip,
I’ll take it off for you.

I’ll show you my skin the next.
No honey, it’s not as pretty as you’re used to.
It’s the skin of a survivor,
But I’ll change it for you, if you want me to.
Because it’s you, and you want me to strip,
I’ll take it off for you.

Morals are next, I suppose.
I valued mine the most.
But then you pointed out,
They were just a pretty show.
I let go of them too.
Since it’s you, and you want me to strip,
I’ll take it off for you.

Soul, you say?
If you can find mine in a bottle somewhere,
Could you tell me, too?
Or keep it with you, if you want to.
It’s yours to keep, anyway.
Because it’s you, and you want me to strip,
I’ll take it off for you.

There you go,
Everything is off for the show,
Just like you wanted; exposed.
So could you love me a little more?
Forgive me a little more?
Break me some more?
You wanted me to strip,
I took it all off for you.

Not enough

Stripped to the bone,
because skin wasn’t enough.
Look into my soul,
because heart isn’t enough.
I’ll do what you need
and say all the right things.
Still, to explain myself,
words aren’t enough.
I wish it were a game,
at least one of us would’ve won,
but I guess to fate, one looser wasn’t enough.
You did forgive me,
but I guess to me, once wasn’t enough.
I did love you, you know
but I guess to you, words weren’t enough.
They say love is all we need,
but to keep us alive,
love wasn’t enough.

At least tonight.

Fix your drunken eyes on me,

kiss me like you need to breathe

if not forever then.

at least tonight.

Tell me I’m your one and only,

and you’ll always be mine

it’s a lie but mean it,

at least tonight.

Don’t turn on the lights,

I’ll give you what you want

don’t be scared,

at least tonight.

Slightly broken is all you need,

And we’re shattered to pieces

I’ve got a cure,

at least for tonight.

Let the empty bottles rumble,

let them make a distant noise

forget about them,

at least tonight.

I’ll give you what you like,

then I’ll want to forget,

but no, not tonight.

I’m in over my head, let me dream

at least for tonight.

It’s just the start of the morning,

stay with me, smoke one more cigarette,

don’t let them burn out,

at least not tonight.

I’ll come out from behind that curtain,

and give you what you need,

but watch me in the dim light,

at least tonight.

Give me what I want,

and look into my eyes,

say that you love me, but don’t lie,

not tonight.
